In the past decade, Baijiu is becoming a popular choice as an ingredient to trendy and exciting cocktails. There is a growing recognition that Baijiu is made up of so many flavours that could integrate and balance beautifully with other ingredients! The perfect blend of an ‘Eastern’ flavoured liquor with Western drinking culture.

Yanghe’s Baijiu have strong and steady bodies, punches of fruity and floral aromas with complex palaetes, which makes it the most suitable style for making cocktails. A good way to think about Baijiu is through the lens of Chinese culture itself, and the emphasis it puts on the harmonious balance between the yin and yang. Working with Baijiu is the same, it’s finding the flavours that will compliment it and worth harmoniously with it and your taste buds as well.

TIPS:

  • Every Yanghe Baijiu is different in aroma and flavour. It is best to taste each Baijiu before deciding what it goes best with

  • Pick out the characteristics of Baijiu that you want to highlight, then think of the flavours you want to tone down and what would temper those flavours

  • We think the best Baijiu cocktail mixers are citrus-based fruits, such as lemon, grapefruit and orange as well as spices, ginger and herbal liqueurs

  • Cocktail mixing is an experiment! We can’t wait to see what you come up with using our Yanghe Baijiu products
