What is Baijiu?
Baijiu is a traditional alcoholic beverage from China and actually the world's most consumed alcohol. Its history in production and consumption dates back more than a thousand years. It is clear and colourless, similar to vodka in appearance, however has an unique aroma and taste.
Baijiu is distilled from grains, generally varying from 40-60% in alcohol by volume (ABV) through a solid-state fermentation process. It is identified by smell in five categories: "sauce", thick, light, rice and layered and Yanghe falls in the 'thick' fragrance category.
In Australia... there is a substantial unfulfilled Baijiu demand however, the alcohol is virtually unsold. Currently 500,000+ Chinese born Australians has a history of consuming Baijiu; generally, Chinese don't drink other spirit styles. The potential to expand the drinker base into mainstream Australia is extremely high.
