2019 Discoverer Shiraz

VINTAGE CONDITIONS

A hot dry vintage that resulted in extremely low yields and accelerated ripening. The 2019 growing season produced wines of great intensity and structure across all regions of South Australia.

WINEMAKING

The fruit was picked early morning to retain cool berry temperature and varietal integrity. The fruit was then crushed into traditional 8T concrete open fermenters with heading down boards, then fermented on skins for seven to eight days to aid in colour extraction. Heading down boards keep the skins within the wine medium to maximise colour extraction. After ferment, the wine was pressed off skins to be transferred to barrel for 24 months oak maturation. After this period, wines were assessed for quality with the best parcels proceeding to blending.

TASTING NOTES
